Amanda & Mike's Vow Renewal at The Tidewater Inn
I love being a wedding photographer, and when my job leads me to revisit some personal memories, I feel even luckier to be doing what I do every day. I felt the same when my college roommate Amanda asked me to photograph her vow renewal ceremony. I was honestly beyond delighted when she asked me, and there was no way that I would have missed photographing Amanda's special day. I am always there for my friends, and if my profession can in some way brighten their day, I will always be up for that! Amanda and Mike had their vow renewal ceremony at The Tidewater Inn, Easton, and it was one of the most memorable and heartwarming events I've photographed.
The Tidewater Inn Vow Renewal Photography
Last year, Amanda and Mike had an elopement on the beach, and this year, in June, they finally got the chance to celebrate with friends and family in Maryland. They had a sweet vow renewal ceremony, which also included a 'ring warming' ceremony where their friends and family held the rings in their hands and blessed them before the bride and groom exchanged them. I fell in love with this lovely and thoughtful tradition.
The highlight of the day for me was Mike's reaction when he first saw Amanda dressed as a bride. Some couples believe that doing a first look fizzles out the groom's reaction when he sees his bride walk down the aisle but personally, I am a big fan of these moments, and I always anticipate them to be super emotional and romantic. So, of course, I think of them as a great opportunity for photographs too. Although Mike had already seen Amanda before the ceremony, the look of love and excitement in his eyes didn't fade when he saw her walking down the aisle later.
With live music and my couple's family and friends by their side, the vow renewal ceremony was truly a wonderful way to celebrate and bring everyone together. All three of Amanda's brothers sang during the ceremony, which was such a sweet way of showing their support and affection for the couple. I took formals after the ceremony and then some more family photos at the reception. And I must say, this was one of the most fun groups when it came to dancing. They were all just so happy and they even added their own fun element to the traditional dances!
