2019 was a lucky year for Star Wars loving brides everywhere who wanted to get married on this punny date! Rosanna and Dan got married on Saturday, May 4th, with a romantic theme and a nod to the beloved series that was fun and tasteful, while also showcasing both of their amazing personalities!
Rosanna planned her wedding from out of state, (props to her!) so our meetings were all via Skype. I did run into her at a mutual friend's wedding in the fall that I was shooting, so she got to see me in action! Even though we didn't have a chance to get to know each other much before the wedding, Rosanna and Dan were so warm and relaxed, and it was so obvious how excited they were to be finally getting married. It was a much anticipated event, after an extended long distance relationship.

Why did you choose Kayla Bri Photography to photograph your wedding?
We chose Kayla Bri Photographer because of her excellent reviews, beautiful photos, responsiveness, and willingness to meet with and discuss our wedding vision. It seemed clear the Kayla is willing to be flexible and work with the couple's wishes while still capturing all of the most important moments of the day.
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
Taking dance lessons together to prepare for our first dance!
What was the driving force in the planning process?
Trying to make things as convenient as possible for our friends and family, most of whom had traveled 6+ hours to be with us. And of course the date – getting married on International Star Wars day!
What special/sentimental details did you include in your day?
Rosanna’s father-daughter danced was dedicated to her grandfather who passed away shortly before the wedding, with them dancing to the song her grandfather sang at her parent’s wedding. The church we were married in is the church Rosanna’s parents were married in and is also located on the college campus where Rosanna and Dan met.
What is one moment or memory from the day that stands out in your mind?
Our first look on the terrace of the University Club!
How did you ask your bridal party to be in your wedding?
Rosanna sent packages with hand made cards in the shape of a dress and a “knot” bracelet asking for the girls to be bridesmaids. Dan and Rosanna brewed a beer together that we bottled and labeled with “Boljonis Wedding Brew” – Dan then gave a 4 pack to his groomsmen asking them to be in the bridal party.
Would you do anything differently looking back?
Not rely on the services the hotel said they could cover (e.g., shuttles) and instead do everything independently to make sure it went smoothly.
Any advice to future brides?
Don't worry about making everyone else happy! Focus on what is important for you as a couple and what will make the day special for you.
How has you and your spouse's relationship changed for the better since becoming husband and wife?
For us, it has been less about becoming husband and wife and more about 2019 being when we finally put an end to our long distance relationship (after 9 years) and were able to live together. Since getting married, we got a dog and purchased our first home. During this time, we have been enjoying working together to create the foundation for our lives together and our family.
